Unfilmable Book Goes Before Cameras

Conventional wisdom said it couldn't be filmed and yet Catcher in the Rye will be hitting the small screens this summer. The book is to become an advert for Coca Cola under a radical new strategy unveiled by the company earlier today which is yesterday Atlanta time.

"Catcher in the Rye is one of the classics of American literature so it makes perfect sense that it be used to advertise a classic American beverage" explained Jason 'Zac' DeMento, head of Coca Cola's literary liaison unit.

The advertisement will feature a 16 year old boy relating tales from his life as a 16 year old boy and how the only thing in his life which isn't phoney is Coke.

"School, teachers, parents, Pepsi - they're all the same" moans the young Holden Caulfield during the sixty second commercial. Rumours that he would also refer to "Goddam Dr Pepper" have been denied by the Coke heads.

Catch 22, To Kill a Mocking Bird and The Grapes of Wrath are believed to be next on Coke's literary rape list. Pepsi meanwhile announced that they would be concentrating their advertising budget on getting Britney Spears to take her top off.
