How PC Can a PC Be if a
PC Can Be PC?
A
controversial new law comes into operation at a quarter to midnight
tomorrow morning which bars the police from using any racial, sexual or
otherwise discriminatory language when issuing descriptions of wanted
criminals.
“Basically” said Inspector Drawes of Staffordchester Police, “whereas we
used to say we are looking for ‘a white male suspect seen in the precinct
on the night in question, aged between eighteen and twenty four, above
average height, dark hair, wearing a blue tracksuit and black shoes’ we
will now have to say ‘the police would like to exchange information with a
legally innocent person seen in a shopping centre whilst wearing clothes
and at least one shoe’.”
“Frankly” added the Inspector, “I don’t think it will improve things very
much. Not like guns – they’d be wicked.”
Is there an up side to this new set of regulations?
“Oh yes” said Drawes, locking away a cup of coffee for when he’d finished
his eight hour shift in the city’s red light district, “It’ll certainly
stop some of the younger officers issuing descriptions of their friends
and of celebrities for a giggle. I like a prank as much as the next man
but Kylie Minogue is taking legal action against us and this should help
it to be the last straw.”
