Potter named "Greatest
Briton"
Popular
wizard Harry Potter has been named "Greatest Britain" at the end of an
exhausting poll conducted by the BBC's Blue Peter serial. Potter, star of
a series of novels aimed at people who can read but don't usually,
narrowly beat David Beckham into second place. Winston Churchill, who won
the grown ups prize, finished in eight hundred and ninth place - twenty
votes behind George the Blue Peter tortoise. "It's
an honour" said Potter during the live finale. "To be in such esteemed
company makes my battles against Voldemorte worth while."
Potter's wife JK Rowling-Potter said she was "delighted"
with her toyboy's victory and she was also "delighted" with her own
placing of fifth in the table. David Beckham
refused to attend the ceremony after his wife - Victoria "Posh"
Beckham-Spice - received only three votes, one less than Adolf Hitler.
Historians have roundly condemned the poll as "showing up
the ignorance of youth" and "a sad indication of the decline of modern
children" before being reminded that Diana, Princess of Hearts, did
appallingly well in the adults poll. "Old people
are shallow and vacuous too" said Simon Shama, adding "but they buy my
books so I love each and every one of them to the value of £16.99, though
not a penny more unless they also bought my DVD."
