"Christmas Crackers"

28th December 1981

"Bay Marie!" and "It’s a Fete a Complan!"

Grandad has been cooking Christmas dinner in the Trotter household "since Mum died". Rodney smokes cigarettes and doesn’t like The Sound of Music.

The Trotters get the Radio Times [at least at Christmas time] and there is no sofa in the flat in this episode.

Grandad was in hospital for some unspecified reason 18 months before this episode. The flat has a bath.

Del orders a ‘Remi Martin’ with cream soda and lots of ice.

Within the first 3 minutes of the episode, Del enters the flat and hangs up his coat. However, it falls back down again before we cut to the next shot.

Del dressed as Jon Pertwee minus the frills and with the addition of white Sylvester McCoy golfing shoes.

Sadly, the best this episode has to offer is this quip from Grandad:

"I don’t know why they have these drug addiction centres. Aren’t there enough drug addicts about as it is?"

Del apparently orders "van ordinaire" instead of table wine.

An almightily dull Christmas special, involving Grandad burning dinner and the boys failing to even get round to approaching two non-speaking extras to chat them up. Even the dialogue fails to sparkle as much as usual.
