Debbie Gibson

Deborah Ann Hercules Trent-Gibson was born in Brooklyn in 1970, birthplace of many a mad old bag in pop music. She was already appearing in Broadway at the age of 12, and at 16 got snapped up by Atlantic to become a singing sensation. Before long she was Britney Spears before Britney Spears had been invented.

Dame Debbie Gibson became the youngest person ever to write, record and produce a Billboard chart topper when "Foolish Beat" hit number one in the Year Of Our Lord 1987. Three other singles from her debut album "Out of the Blue" followed, namely "Only In My Dreams", "Out Of The Blue", and "Shake Your Love". All went Top 5 in America. Gibson and Tiffany had become the top pop American starlets of the day.

Second album "Electric Youth" was also a hit, only in a slightly less pleasing way. Read the Tiffany "Music Box" and spot the pattern.

More albums seem to have followed to diminishing returns: "Anything Is Possible", "Body Mind Soul" and "Think With Your Heart". The latter was, even according to the official site, "mostly ballads". By this time she had officially become "Deborah" and not "Debbie" to show she was mega grown up and everything.

In 1995 Deb did "Grease" with Craig McLachlan, and played Fanny Brice in a musical. Her sixth album "Deborah" featured "Ode To A Would be Lover" and "Only In My Dreams '97". Treat!

In March 2005 Deb appeared in "Playboy", prompting the following letter from her biggest unofficial web site, later printed in the magazine:

"I run the largest unofficial website devoted to Deborah Gibson. Contrary to the positive posts at her official site, many longtime fans feel she sold and is a hypocrite by posing for you."

Good career move missus!

The latest album and The Playboy Years - nice tits Grandma!

Final album "M.Y.O.B" arrived in 2001, clocking in with a minimalist 11 tracks. Her Fan Club site notes that "Deborah loves children. She hasn't got any yet, but she wants lots". We smell optimism.

Despite Deborah actually doing Playboy, there are still fake nudey pictures on the Internet. This is one example of the master photoshopping craftsmanship on display:

Her official site bravely notes she is "a driving force in the entertainment industry", yet the latest cutting-edge news is that "Deborah's Cruise has been cancelled".

She's currently signed to the Golden Egg records label.

Unusually, the official website is home to all manner of rarity albums and treats, including this hideous old monstrosity:

It's one in a range of many CD's of lost demos, including hits such as "Eating To Be Social" and "A Ton of Bricks". And then there's this tacky looking thing:

You just know there's a bit hit missing don't you?

Deborah today. She's got style, she's got class (but no knickers. Probably).
