An Introduction to Space:1999
Each episode would open with Dr Russell recording a 'Captain's Log' type thing, in order to bring us up to speed on the story. It may be a ripoff, but it's a useful ripoff.
Working out the date the story is set on based on the above entry.
I don't really need to explain this, surely?
See above.
See above the above.
The cast were named in three sections. This section for Tony Anholt, Nick Tate and Zienia Merton...
This section for the named guest stars...
And this section for the names tacked onto the end credits.
Commander Koenig was always a bit of a repressed psychopath. For this season, you can ditch the 'repressed'. This section is to catalogue all the various mental instabilities of our heroic leader.
Details on Maya and on what she transforms into in each episode.
A running 'subplot', such as it was, throughout the second season, involved Tony's attempts to brew a good beer. My, how we all chuckled. This section notes his failures and failures.
Romance was something of a theme this series too, and I'll be looking at all the lovey-dovey stuff in this section.
Episodes were often being shot two at a time, with Landau starring in one episode, Bain in the other, and the rest of the cast being split between the two. This section clarifies who's role is minor or non-existent this week.
Most episodes featured an Alphan who had never been seen before and would never be seen again, their roles only being important for this one episode only. In this section, I will most likely insult them.
Examining the many adventures of the five background extras I'll be following throughout the series.
What with this being a sci-fi series, there's plenty of technobabble to log here. Most of it seems have been written by a five-year old, but I'll try explain it all as best I can...
Dedicated to jokes both (mostly) corny and (occasionally) funny...
Again, as this is a sci-fi show, characters are going to describe things as "some sort/kind of" or "of some sort/kind", and they'll be listed here.
Reserved for dialogue that's generally horrible in every way imaginable.
Looking at the strange new worlds and new life that the Alphans encounter on their travels...
Quite often the Alphans will try to do something. It won't work. That's where this section comes in.
Dedicated to model effects both special and not-so-special.
Details of all the Eagles in this episode.
Alpha would frequently get damaged throughout the series. Sometimes that damage is a smashed console, sometimes an entire building, perhaps from an Eagle exploding right over it. This section catalogues three things - fatalities, damage/destruction to the Eagles, or to Moonbase Alpha itself
Dedicated to all those parts of Alpha that are absolutely vitally important, for one episode only, before getting forgotten about for the rest of the series.
Many episodes feature exciting scenes of people running all over the place with alarms blaring and whatnot. I like those bits, so I'll write about them here.
In this section, I'll be looking at anything that ties in to a previous episode or an episode from the first series. That might be an actor, a prop, a model, or (if I really get desperate) just a general theme.
Looking at the poorly-worded episode blurbs on the UK Region 2 DVDs.
This should be obvious. And funny.
A chance for me to witter on and bore you all.
My judgement on whether or not it's any good or not. My word is law. Or not.
