Many years ago (two to be exact) we frequented the BBC Dr Who message boards. A thread which entered the halls of legend (possibly) was entitled "The Meaning of Liff part 2" in honour of Douglas Adams. I know now that what I and others did wasn't technically the same as "The Meaning of Liff" but liff is nothing iff not unpredictable. The conceit was to define words of Whovian interest in as cunning a way as possible. Time being what it is, the original thread was soon deleted. Buried under a mass of other bits and bobs. I resurrected it for an old site of mine but it wasn't the same. That site was an exercise in building as needlessly complicated a structure as possible so as to learn as many of the dos and don'ts of website design as poss. Which brings me to now and the third incarnation of what has become the Whovian English Dictionary. Most of the entries come straight from my head. Some come from a fragment of the original thread saved in true Dr Who fan style by Benny. The close relationship between creation and memory means that some of the entries might have been thought up by someone else all those years ago. If this is the case then I salute you and apologise for inadvertently pinching your ideas. Hopefully the dictionary will get its ass updated from time to time. Either way, enjoy it as much as you can.
