Doctor Who and the Toast Monster started as a joke title It was the novella (novellas were briefly in vogue) that I threatened to write if the one I was actually going to write didn't work. Well, it didn't work and I ended up writing The Toast Monster. Those were the good old days when I could write to my heart's content at work. I dashed the Toast Monster out over a couple of weeks and was reasonably displeased with the end result. Then the site that was going to house it lurched into a state of death that still still engulfs it today.

Then I got a second wind (must've been something I'd eaten) and did a second draft of the Toast Monster. The problem with my writing style is that I never know what will happen next. So the first three chapters were written without knowing what would happen in part four. I went back and tried to make it look as if the first three episodes were written with part four firmly in mind.

The story itself is rather like the cover that you see to the left. It's either a poor pastiche or a bad attempt to do it for real. If you're not sure which then you're in the same boat as me. You might enjoy it or you might hate it until your lips bleed.
