"It was in the summer of 1975 that I first suggested the idea of a spoon based chat show. The BBC said it wouldn't work and the idea sat on the back burner for twenty seven years. I'm very pleased then that the format has been revived in 2002 and has proved once and for all that the BBC management were absolutely right."
