Number 94 - Barbara Wright
Q. You've travelled the galaxy
in your time - how important are spoons ?
A. There is nothing to beat
a good, sensible spoon.
Q. It was on the planet Skaro
that you encountered your first alien spoon - how terrifying was that ?
A. I tried to approach it
in a sensible manner. It's no good going to pieces. A nice cup of tea and
a warm cardigan and even an alien spoon doesn't seem so bad.
Q. During your travels did you
and Ian ever share a spoon ?
A. Certainly not. Times may
have been tough in the desert or while under attack on an alien world but
standards are standards. Mr Chesterton and I have shared a cup of tea and
nothing further.
Q. Have you ever seen a
knitted spoon ?
A. I did once knit a spoon
- it was a present for Vicki but she spilled something white on it and it
was spoilt. It’s a shame - it was a good knitted spoon.
Q. What about cardigans - have
you ever knitted a cardigan for a spoon ?
A. What a super idea. I've
got quite a few spoons which would look ever so nice with sensible
cardigans.
Q. You are a history teacher,
have you studied the history of the spoon ?
A. I have touched on the
number of spoons executed during the French Revolution. If only they had
been more sensible, such a tragedy would never have happened.
Q. And the Aztecs - I believe
they had some frightening rituals involving spoons ?
A. They certainly did. I
would dearly love to have ended their barbaric practice of sacrificing
hundreds - even thousands - of spoons to their cutlery gods. But the
Doctor warned me that you can't change history. Not one spoon.
Q. Has anything sensible
happened to you in connection with a spoon ?
A. Yes.
Q. Has anything amusing ever
happened to you in connection with a spoon ?
A. No.
