A life lesson learned from Invasion of the Dinosaurs

We often feel that things were better in the past. The romance of nostalgia means that we are frequently unhappy with how our lives are now and that they were somehow better in an age before we suffered at the hands of bosses and traffic! The temptation to live our lives under the heavy burden of reminiscence stifles our ability to live in the present and, by definition, our ability to grow in the future. The golden age of memory is a nice place to visit but one needs strength to resist its warm appeal.

For those whose craving has truly taken over their lives, the following simple plan should help them to live in the present again.

1. Think objectively about the past – remember the bad times as well as the good and how those bad times taught you lessons that you couldn’t have learned any other way. Make a list of ways – material and emotional – in which your life is better now than it was, say, ten years ago or when you were 18 years old.

2. Take deep calming breaths before taking any action..

3. Use all the resources of a crack military organisation to rid London of dinosaurs and stop mad scientists from wiping out humanity as part of a crack pot scheme to populate the Earth with the most gullible of the species.

Following these three simple steps should enable you to live a fulfilling life TODAY and consign yesterday to the HISTORY books.
