Five years ago - October 2000
DVD

The first of the "proper" DVDs to come out (the Five Doctors doesn't count, even the American version which has extras). It came with floor plans and a monotone commentary. And a dull cover.

Did I buy it?

Yes - my first Dr Who DVD and surprisingly I came back for more.

Eighth Doctor Adventures

The Eighth Doctor has reached World War II where his knowledge of codes causes top brass to doubt he is who is says he is.

Did I buy it?

No - I wish I had because "The Burning" offered a chance to jump aboard the EDAs but I didn't take it. This reboot run of books are less cheap than those around them.

Past Doctor Adventures

The Seventh Doctor and Ace get tangled up in the meaning of freedom.

Did I buy it?

I've never seen it before in my life.

Big Finish

The first audio-NA, penned by New Series writer Paul Cornell and featuring Sylvester McCoy's most over the top performance as the Doctor.

Did I buy it?

Yes - twice to be exact. Once on cassette and then later on CD when I upgraded my early collection. I keep this bit in because it's still true.

DWM

The synopsis of an unmade Peter Davison story, the structure of the perfect episode one and all of the above merchandise.

Did I buy it?

Yes and I hope I can find it again because I forgot to read the unmade story article.

Email me if I've missed something interesting that came out during the month in question
