The Basics - Issue 170, 20 February 1991. The front cover has a publicity photo of the Sixth Doctor. The diamond logo, last used on the cover of Issue 45, replaces the McCoy era logo from this issue. There is a centre spread poster of the Fourth Doctor, Leela and K9.

News And Views - With no decision on the show's future made, the BBC remain committed to new production. The Galaxy channel ceased transmission in early December, midway through transmission of The Daleks. It seems unlikely that DW will turn up on the new Sky One entertainment channel.

Tombwatch - A fan has claimed to have seen Tomb of the Cybermen in the Far East in 1978, according to Gallifrey Guardian.

Notables - There is a story outline of the unmade Sixth Doctor story Guardians of Prophecy, a sequel to The Keeper of Traken. Off The Shelf reviews fanzines.

Boxpops - Red Dwarf IV debuts on BBC2 on 14th February. New idents for both BBC1 and BBC2 debut on 16th February. Top of the pop charts in February 91 were 3AM Eternal by KLF and Do The Bartman by the Simpsons.

Skaro Says - Si Hunt considers this to be a grim issue, and part of the wilderness years, with some quite awful features about umade stories. Off The Shelf reviewing only fanzines sums it up for him! Andrew Curnow was excited about the return of the diamond logo (having been forewarned by a news item in DWB about it) . He agrees with Si that the unmade Johnny Byrne story was pretty awful, although usually he quite enjoyed the features on unmade stories. He does the find the news item on Tomb rather amusing with hindsight! Sidesk agrees with the general consensus that it's no surprise that The Guardians of Prophecy was an unmade story.

Critique - Like Andrew, I also clearly recall the DWB news item showing this front cover, and was delighted to see the return of the diamond logo - needless to say, it's my all time favourite logo! I've included a new semi-regular feature here - Tombwatch - because while running through these issues recently, I noticed that there seemed to be many mentions of Tomb leading up to its confirmed discovery, so I thought it would be fun to catalogue them here as and when they appear. The GG piece on it here was actually entitled "Tomb Sighted?". I never did get round to reading the piece on Guardians of Prophecy, which has some inconsistent artwork accompanying it - the Melkurs look great, but the Doctor and Peri don't look very accurate. There is a behind the scenes article on the Search Out Space programme starring the 7th Doctor/Ace/K9, but to this day I've never seen it.
