The Basics - Issue 153, October 1989. The front cover has a photo of the Seventh Doctor, who is Back On TV!

News And Views - With no further news on the future of the programme at the time of going to press, Andrew Cartmel has moved on to become script editor of Casualty. The Ultimate Adventure has now finished its first British run, with a 6 to 8 week run in New Zealand looking increasingly likely. Jonathan Blum writes in about the Dalek continuity article (DWM 151).

Preview - Ghost Light is previewed.

Notables - In the first of a new series of features, Strip! looks at the history of DW comic strips as they approach their 25th anniversary. The Location Guide features Wales and the North West.

Boxpops - Top of the pop charts in October 89 were the continuing Ride On Time and That's What I Like by Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers.

Critique - With this issue coming out about a week after I returned, I now had six issues to plough through in a very short space of time, and it's perhaps due to this overkill that I don't remember anything specific about this particular issue. Battlefield was under way on TV at this time, and it's odd now to think that we'd have to wait another 15 and a half years before the magazine would herald another series. Talking of which, it seems somewhat appropriate that this issue's Location Guide feature included Wales! The highlight of this issue for me was the feature looking back at the early days of the comic strip. Sylvester looks suitably moody on the front cover.

Why can't I see Nicola Bryant's picture anywhere in that advert?
