News And Views - Episodes 1, 4, 5 and 6 of The Ice Warriors were returned to the BBC in September, and will be shown at the NFT in early December. A DW exhibition is to be an added attraction to the flight simulator space ride at Tooley Street, London. The results of the 1987 Target Poll are as follows : Best Novel - The Reign of Terror, Best Cover - Black Orchid. Previews And Reviews - Silver Nemesis is previewed - "It bears all the hallmarks of a successful story; it is a potent mixture of exciting themes and ideas." The annual TARDIS Fillers Merchandise report reviews "Toys and Togs" from Dapol and Mothercare, books, music, models and miscellaneous merchandise. Other Regulars - A new two part comic strip, Echoes of the Mogor!, begins. Me, Myself And I - I entered the competition for videos of Talons and Zygons as the entry form has been cut out. I didn't win... Boxpops - Top of the pop charts in December 88 were the continuing Robin Beck and Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard. Critique - I had already heard of the recovery of the Ice Warriors episodes from DWB back in the summer - August I think. So as usual DWM was well behind with the news, but it was quite an exciting recovery all the same. I'm not convinced that referring to Silver Nemesis as a successful story was accurate, but JNT was the Advisor after all... Echoes of the Mogor was a good atmospheric comic strip, and amusingly virtually all the character names are taken from the first two Alien films! |
