The
Basics - Issue 134, March 1988. The front cover has photos of the
Season 19 regulars and Glitz, with Peter Davison and Tony Selby
interviewed inside. David Howe is now credited as a Consultant.
News And Views - BBC Video are planning Spearhead
From Space for an imminent budget release. Newspapers report that John
Cleese and Caroline Munro will star in the new film, with filming due to
start in a couple of months. Andrew Cartmel and Sophie Aldred will remain
in their roles throughout the new season. 16 year old David Darlington
writes in to defend the current state of the show.
Reviews - After Image reviews Delta and the
Bannermen - "On the surface it was attractive and satisfying, but when
analysed it quickly becomes insubstantial and unsatisfactory."
Other Regulars - The complete comic strip
Redemption! sees the departure of Olla the Heat Vampire.
Boxpops - Top of the pop charts in March 88 were
the continuing I Should Be So Lucky and Don't Turn Around by Aswad.
Skaro Says - Logo remembers the "new film"
being previewed extensively in Starburst that year, claiming that it would
be released in the summer of 1989 and being worth the wait! He entered the
competition to win the video of Spearhead From Space, but got the question
wrong! It was probably just as well though, as he had bought the video
before the results were published! Andrew Curnow still doesn't think that DW is suited to a big screen adventure. He can't remember much about this
issue - perhaps the negative review of Delta has wiped it from his memory!
Jonno notes though that Richard Marson was rather ambiguous in his review,
and certainly liked it much more than the previous two stories (so did
Jonno for that matter!).
