The Basics - Issue 115, August 1986. The price rises to 85p. The front cover has a publicity photo of Colin Baker, Janet Fielding and Nicola Bryant, to tie in with a photo feature on the Doctor Who Bus in the centre spread, and the back cover is a pin up of the Sixth Doctor and Peri from The Twin Dilemma.

News And Views - Eric Saward left the show in April, with a replacement script-editor yet to be announced. Robert Holmes passed away on 24th May. In July, the National Film Theatre in London will be holding a British Telefantasy Weekend, with DW represented by The War Machines. Mark Ayres writes in to respond to Gary Russell's review of the Nicola Bryant Myth Makers video, which Ayres directed.

Reviews - Off The Shelf reviews The Seeds of Death and The Faceless Ones, respectively "another of Dicks' better novels and well worth the wait" and "ten times better than The Seeds of Death".

Boxpops - The fifth season of Only Fools And Horses debuts on BBC1 on 31st August. Top of the pop charts in August 86 were The Lady In Red by Chris de Burgh and I Want To Wake Up With You by Boris Gardiner.

Skaro Says - Andrew Curnow recalls the cover, but wonders if anyone ever actually saw the bus? He remembers the Faceless Ones review very well, with its nonchalant lead in to Evil of the Daleks. He doesn't think that the books of either Seeds of Death or Faceless Ones are that exciting, though Seeds was notable for being the first book he bought where he'd already got the video! Craig Rollins didn't care about the behind the scenes people at the time, so the news of Saward's departure and Holmes' death didn't register with him. He feels that the bus was a nice idea, but somewhat naive as he didn't feel that it would have appealed to the fans of the time.

The Back Cover

"That's a nasty scratch, Peri, do you want me to touch you up?"
