The Tamaras Crisis – The Story (Part Two)

As Ian struggles to escape the Android’s clutches, elsewhere in the forest the Rani activates the device and the Android suddenly releases Ian and sets off in the other direction. A shaken Ian returns to the TARDIS and wakes the Doctor, explains what just happened, and they go out into the forest once more to try to locate the Rani.

The Tamarans assume that the Rani will now show them how to use the device, but she informs them that she now has control of the Androids and thus the mine workings, and so has no further use for the Tamarans. She intends to blackmail the Timelords by threatening to destroy the planet. Whilst the Rani has momentarily turned her attention towards the console, the Tamarans escape from the ship. When the Rani realises she summons an Android to go out into the forest and pursue them.

After running for a few minutes, the two Tamarans stop briefly to rest, but are then spotted by the pursuing Android. As they run away, one of the Tamarns, Feymar, is shot by the Android and falls to the ground, his leg badly injured. They continue on their way as fast as they can.

The Doctor and Ian try to take the same route through the forest as before, and eventually meet another Tamaran, Zeera, who has been running away from another deranged Android. This prompts Ian to remember that the Android who attacked him outside the TARDIS had one of its hands missing.

The Rani uses her scanner to try to locate her Android servant, but instead discovers the Doctor’s TARDIS in the forest.

Kymal and Feymar manage to find The Doctor, Ian and Zeera, and the Doctor pronounces that Feymar’s injuries will heal in time. The Doctor decides to find the Rani’s TARDIS in order to find out how the she’s taken control of the Androids. They find and enter her ship and search around the laboratory, but discover nothing.

The Rani returns to her TARDIS, the Doctor’s party hiding whilst she collects the Android device and leaves the ship. They follow soon after to find out where the Rani is going, but they lose sight of her. Kymal thinks she was heading for the mine so they follow, also intending to make contact with the Tamaran Governors.

The Rani arrives at the mine, furious that the Android she had summoned has not arrived, so she enters the mine alone. The Doctor’s party arrive soon afterwards and enter the mine, only to run into the Rani. They try to escape but another Android bars there way, armed with Ian’s missing gun. Ian and Zeera run to escape but Zeera is shot dead by the Android.

The Rani captures The Doctor and the Tamarans. The Doctor, being his usual flippant self, enquires as to how the Rani escaped from the Tetraps, and she informs him that she jettisoned them from her TARDIS into the gravitational field of the nearest sun. The Doctor is horrified and proceeds to reprimand her but she silences him, demanding that he explain his presence but he ignores her. She orders the Android to threaten Feymar, so Kymal reveals that they were going to contact the Tamaran Governors. She forces them to take her to the Governors, and orders the Android to kill the Doctor…….

Ian spots the Rani and the Tamarans walking through the forest and manages to overpower her, and then orders her to return to the mine. They return just in time for Ian to order the Rani to call-off the Android which has almost strangled the Doctor. The Doctor decides to return to the TARDIS and contact the Governors from there, reasoning that at least it would prevent the Rani from attacking the Governors should she escape.

As they approach the TARDIS, Ian’s leg suddenly buckles and he cries out. The Doctor asks him what the matter is, and Ian tells him the he’s just pulled a muscle, and that he’ll join him shortly in the ship. Once the Doctor has entered the TARDIS, Ian winces with pain and crouches down on the floor, lifting his trouser leg to reveal a puss-ridden gash on his lower leg. He struggles to his feet and hobbles into the ship.

Inside the TARDIS, the Doctor makes contact with the Tamaran Governors and asks them for assistance in rounding up the remaining Androids. During their conversation the Rani escaped from the ship, the Doctor deducing that she’s returned to her own TARDIS. He decides to return to the mine but this time in the TARDIS, and the Rani watches on her scanner as the Doctor’s ship dematerialises. Guessing his intent, she programs her own TARDIS to travel to the mine.

The Doctor & Co exit his ship and enter the mine in order to turn the Androids against the Rani. Her TARDIS arrives and she detects the presence of the original Andriod still in the Doctor’s ship. She enters and retrieves it using the control device, and proceeds into the mine. The Doctor has re-programmed one of the Androids and leaves it on stand-by mode. The Rani discovers them but the Doctor activates the dormant Android and it attacks her. As the Doctor’s party leaves the mine, the Rani overcomes the Android with her own control device. She attempts to re-program it but fails, realising that the Doctor has over-ridden her control.

The Doctor & Co run into another Android which attacks them. The Doctor attempts to use his own control device to overpower it but drops it in the struggle and the Android steps on it. They manage to knock over the Android and run off into the forest towards the TARDIS. Once inside the ship, the Doctor places a force filed around the Rani’s TARDIS to prevent her from entering it.

As the Rani emerges from the mine with another of the Androids, she walks towards her ship but is blocked by the force field.

Ian is tired and goes to his bedroom. The Doctor is concerned as warning lights flash on the console and an alarm sounds. Ian examines his injured leg which has worsened. He then looks into a mirror and notices that his face has become inflamed and infected, and his facial skin begins to flake away as he touches it.

The Doctor realises that the power used by the force field is overloading the ship’s power generators and goes to disconnect it. As he presses a button on the console he receives a violent electric shock, falling to the floor where he lays motionless whilst the Tamarans look on in shock………..
